I have just been looking through ebay, and there are some serious bargains on second hand tyres.
I currently run a 25/28mm combo on my fixeh. It works fine. The 28 rear is a spesh armadilo - which is a hideous tyre so I really can't comment if there is any benefit. There is certainly no downside, and logic would say that it should be a sensible move.
I just wonder why you wouldn't want a 28 up front touring. The weight is minor and should give a bit more comfort.
