  • Anyone fancy riding the 200km first stage of the Tour of Britain the day before it all kicks off? It starts from Ipswich so I'm going to get an early train down from Liverpool Street on Saturday. It's quite expensive at £35 but should be good fun: I'll stay on and watch the race on Sunday.

  • No one? I've just booked my place.

  • Are there later stage ride chances? I have to hand my dissertation in on the 12th so a 200km ride on the 8th is unlikely!

  • This looks quite excellent. Could hand dissertation in early to ride this.

It should be good. Looking forward to comparing my time to Wiggo's!

  • That's a good idea. I might be up for this.

  • Booked. We'll be driving up so I won't see you on the train, but I'll be on a white flat bar hybrid so I'll be quite easy to spot at the start in the sea of drop bar road bikes.

  • Do you know Norwich? Get in touch if you want to go for a beer afterwards.

  • Thanks, but I think we'll be wanting to head straight home.

My wife will be driving around in the area while I'm riding, with a pile of tools and spares in the car. Do you have any stuff that you'd like carried in our car and brought to you if your bike breaks ?

  • I've just signed up for this as the start is right next door to the GF's parents. I'll be riding a pale blue Ciocc in huge farm gate size. After 205km I'll be looking forward to a pint in the Murderers when we get to Norwich.

  • I'm in: I live a stone's throw from Christchurch Park, so I'll be arriving fashionably late!

I'll be rocking the yellow steeler, wearing Molteni but no helmet: old skool kool, right?

Coughed-up for the coach back, so I'll need to get a lick on if I'm going to hoist a few in Norwich...

Volunteered for marshalling duties at the start, so I'm on for TWO goody bags!

  • Think I'll do the "Challenge" version of this from Gt Yarmouth.

^Scilly, did you do the Dynamo on that this year?

  • I did! Do I owe you an apology?

  • No, I saw it on the ride and thought that looks nice, and then saw a picture on CycleChat which I thought I was the same bike.

  • Thanks, maybe see you at the end: I'll be the one blowin' out my arse, trying to scoop my lungs off the floor...

  • Sounds like my ride this morning!

  • Entered. Just doing the challenge ride as my dad is tagging along - he still fancies himself as a bit of a racer so hilarity should ensue on the finishing straight!

  • Hi - could be up for this - but I havent even looked at the route - I'm a single speeder - how about you?

    Mel

  • Hi What time train are you catching? Mel

  • The ride manual has just been published and both profiles are practically flat.

    Have you done the Dynamo?

I'll be using all the gears I can get my hands on, but I am getting on a bit...

  • I'm on gears too but yes; the course is pan flat so definitely doable SS/fixed just depends on your fitness levels I guess. I don't know the area very well at all but I guess as it's starts near the sea the wind might be an issue too...

  • sooo far out.

  • What time does it start - sorry guys - if the answers are somewhere obvious but I havent found them....
