Fair enough, I'll keep my solo suffering to myself for a little longer then.

• #78
Euph?
They're doing them next week too so you won't have to wait very long.

thats if the track hasnt melted...fuck, reckon its going to be intense on our track league tonight, 3 caffeine gels should do it

Anyone have a weather report for the track? BBC says it's raining down there now...
-
• #81
Just started raining in the Brixton/Stockwell borders....
I'm gonna give it a miss tonight. -
• #82
now it's just stopped raining... with the sun semi-shining.
Dark clouds looming to the east though. -

Good racing again yesterday and what I would guess, was a big turn out. Never quite got around to adding the numbers up, but 20 in the A's maybe and 30 odd of us mortals in the B race, plus more under 16's than I could shout at in one day.

how pacy are the B races?
(a very hard question to answer, i know!)

Do you need a full race licence to do the Wednesday track meet or is the provisional licence with BC silver ride membership enough?
-
• #86
last year I raced all season with a provisional silver license
-
• #87
Smiff, see my write up on page 1. This may help give you an idea of what it is about and what I believe might be the sort of standard to be riding at. The best thing to do is turn up with your BC Silver membership and have a go. Or, come and watch one evening, or this Saturday afternoon from 2pm.

I'd say, f you've ridden with the Saturday intermediates a few times, can ride hard in most of the efforts in the first hour and hold your own pretty much in the second AND have good bike handling skills come and have a go. It's what I did, you can too!
smiff, I think this sums it up quite well. If you're in contention at the end of a full Saturday intermediate session (i.e. fighting out the sprint or thereabouts) you'll hold your own in the B races.
After a 3rd place in the B devil yesterday I've worked my way up to a whole point! Bring it on! :)

A strong rider like you should be fine, Joe.
-
• #90
You'll be fine in the B's, Joe.
You'd prolly be alright in the A's if you just want sit in the bunch. Riders attack more in the A's though, so getting dropped is more likley.Me, Jason & Dov should be riding in the A's really too, but Jason is too much of a pussy, and me and Dov are just too damn lazy.

Actually, I'm too slow.

DQ'd in the handicap sprint final. Stay on the black and out of the blue!

Can't believe a 13 year old girl won the trackstand competition tonight. London hipsters should hang their heads in shame!
-
• #94
Having seen the warm down suit she wears, I think it's fair to say she's more of a hipster than anyone on here.

I know next to nothing about the fine art of competitive track standing, but doing it without cleats seems particularly impressive

No pics of me colliding with a pigeon. Surely that's credible too!

Is tomorrow's TL just Madison for the seniors?
-
• #98
^ good question. Anyone?

Sorry - I only just understood the question. While we have key events some weeks at Track League, there will always be a staple of regular events every night. Next year, hopefully there will be lights too so we can have more time for a fuller programme throughout the year.
Oh, and if anyone's done the training, and planning on doing the madison - bring 2 matching jerseys (that no-one else is likely to be using) for you and your partner. If riders can't manage that, I don't think they should be doing a madison!
They usually are but this is track league, there's only so much daylight available for the rest of us to get on with proper racing.
