• Dude you seem to have not read the majority of my post before last. I mention one dj playing tunes at the big chill and that is all you have focused on, whilst conveniently ignoring the other bits which mentioned the live performances, breakestra, digable planets, etc.

I'm never going to say I'm all about the live performance, most of the time, I find them boring to be honest, people standing 1984like staring at a stage off in the distance. Yeah a live performance is unique, but that's not to say that they are all mindblowingly amazing, and worthy of remembrance, dodgy pa's. lackluster performances, an inability to pull the crowd along with them, or all of the above and more.

You think live performances are the be all and end all cool! But a dj who can take you on that journey from a-b, and keep you dancing non-stop without the aid of chemical assistance is a rare thing. And your understanding of going clubbing with the list of caveats you have supplied makes out to me that you kind of never enjoyed it in the first place.

Corny, I didn't mention the none-dj bits because I'm obviously in agreement with you about that.
I also agree that some live performances can be dull and sound shit. Especially at festivals. Like I said I like an indoor venue, on a smaller scale. I want to see the musicians at work.
The original line up of Duran Duran playing to a few hundred people at Kentish Town Forum was the most amazing gig ever. The same band at Earls Court was a bit dull.

No I don't like clubbing anymore. I am too old to dance all night and I don't know any of the newer music. Plus everyone fit is probably half my age. These days I'd rather go to a nice pub, sit down, drink ale and talk shite.

I used to go clubbing regularly, but wound it down over the years as a)I never did pills and some music is definitely written by and for the mashed. b) It got more and more expensive, c) It got more fighty, d) I aged and stopped having as much energy. Mostly d.

I went to more indie clubs but stopped going to them as a)the age gap between me and the students got so great that they were going crazy to Nirvana because they thought they were the ones to discover it, and b)It got tiresome having coked up embryos trying to hit on my wife and giving me grief when she left with me. The general trouble with indie clubs is that people only dance to the tunes they know!

I was involved with the lounge scene and used to be a regular at Club Montepulciano, which was the best club night ever, but they stopped doing that years ago. It was never the same after Bill chucked them out of the Rivoli Ballroom and the promoters lost interest a couple of years later.
