  • £33m a long way short of £40m but I think with add-ons etc it's fair to say Spurs have a good deal still. The weekends performance and obvious shortcomings may have forced Levy's hand.

Willian, is one of a number of Brazliians over at Shakhtar (I'm not sure if it's the money, the women or the weather...) himself, Fernandinho and Douglas Costa have created a much vaunted midfield trio. He's a small, technically excellent explosive and powerful player (not unlike nasri, silva or cazorla) - but not one I'd see as a direct replacement for Modric. For me he would be deployed on the wings or behind the strikers - AVB is obviously a fan, as has been much remarked. He is likely to cost about half of the Modric transfer fee I'd guess Shakhtar must realize that this is probably his time to go and have Ilsinho and Dentinho to deputise in his absence. If I were a Spurs fan I'd be pretty excited/happy about that.

I think Damiao deal is dead in the water for three reasons - cost, Internacional wanting to keep him until the end of the Brazillian season and the complications of his actual ownership.

Dembele, Lloris, M'villa, Moutinho, Cabaye, Afellay, James Rodriguez and Hulk are all names I've heard mentioned.

I think three ins would be a likely situation.
