Someone mentioned ealier about keeping steel frames in outdoor sheds. Is there anything that you could stick in a shed to keep it a bit dryer? I remember chemistry lessons at school with there being some chemical that absorbs water... something like that?

A couple of large houses have been converted to flats near me and these rather splendid bike storage lockers have been deposited outside them but there are no external markings or branding to say what who made them. They look burly as fuck, anyone know what they are?
Nice. Are they ground anchored though?

actually had a nose inside one of them this morning, they have no floor but there is a rail thing on the floor with locking points on it. Looks a bit like these Asgard school bike lockers interior.

Hello folks.
I'm planning on getting a Specialized Allez soon, and will almost certainly need to keep it outside. We have a bit of space out front, but the dimensions are just slightly less than the smallest pre-fab bike shed I've been able to find. We have about 180cm of clearance, while the smallest I can find online is 200cm.
I wondered about building my own, and if there are any freely available plans on t'interwebz that I could adjust for the size. It's more for protection from the elements, as I'll have a ground anchor for security, and will soon have a hedge in front of it so it's a bit less visible to the opportunist.
Has anyone built their own wee bike shed? Any tips or recommendations?

I have a shed that may well be less than 200cm. I'll measure it tomorrow and if so I'll look up the name/where I got it (can't remember off hand)

I have a metal shed in my front garden, which can hold three bikes easily. However, we have five bikes between us. I can't easily fit another similarly-sized one in the back garden as they take up a lot of floor space. A couple of the bikes aren't used on a regular basis so could be stored in the back garden upright. Does anyone recommend tall and thin sheds, or another method of storage?

anyone?

What about knocking together basic lean-to? - 2x2 treated timber, OSB base and plywood - basic box but with sloping top, then use anchor bolt rather than rely only on hinge & lock and add a battery operated alarm for added security.

Are the bikes in the existing shed positioned most efficiently? For example, hanging bikes on a rail of some kind?
You could also make a tall shed in the back garden which has 2 levels of bikes, so uses less floor space. A lean to is a good idea, gives you something strong to hang the bikes on.

One (never used) MTB with it's handlebar turned take up a lots more room that 3 road bicycle can barely fit.
(the 5th is mine, of which she refused to see it set foot indoor).

Think I'm going to purchase this one;

I'll keep my most expensive bicycle in the house naturally, but wondering if this would be better, if the difference in insurance is that big;
