If you don't have any luck with borrowing tools you can pay to use the workshop of these people: http://www.bicyclelinks.org.uk/ They are nice people and it's about £4 an hour on Saturdays.

Thanks for the link, unfortunately I'll be in Norfolk on a Monday and can't wait til the following Saturday.
What are the good bike shops in Norwich and surrounds? My parents live in Hingham.
Can't believe how dead the Norwich section is, is there another forum/site for the area!?

Wow must be some riders in Norwich though right? If I get this bike put together quickly at the beginning of my visit I'd be up for a spin. Apparently theres a pretty good pub in Hingham these days.

Are you after a tool for getting you headset cups out? You don't really need a special tool. I use an offcut of steel curtain rail that happens to be the right diameter. Headset cups are pretty robust things - can handle a bit of bashing

After a quick search for headset press I see you after a tool for installing them. Again you don't need a mechanic and his tools for this, just a couple of flat pieces of wood and a rubber mallet, and a bench to support the frame while you hit it

...or you can make one with items from a home improvement store:
1/2" or so threaded rod;
2 hex nuts and a few washers to match.Of course, you will need a vise (for one hex nut) and a large wrench (for the other) -- or you can make do with two large wrenches.

...or Bangkok...
Early September I'm coming across to visit my parents (I'm currently living in Australia) and will be bringing a frame with me. I have a bike at home which I want to transfer the parts across from. Just wondered if there is any kind soul in the Norwich area that has a decent stash of tools that could help me out.
Current plan was to head to a bike shop, maybe Paul's in Dereham if it still exists. I can bring the tools to do most jobs but don't have a headset press to transfer that across.
Can supply beers and a fun evening of parts swapping to whoever can help. Reply here or PM me. Cheers.
