We tried out the 2-second rule in Brum just now. Our "d's" are about 2.5m wide and 1.5m deep around the goal. It worked really well, and was pretty easy to self-police. With goal refs it'll be even smoother. 'Friendly' reminders from opponents can encourage you to get the hell out of there...
Definitely encouraged more open play, but there were one or two moments of weirdness where basically an attacker had to wait for a defensive player to move out of the way (un-naturally) before shooting.
