Specs I posted are for a pure gaming PC mate, you cant go wrong with that for your budget. Obviously if you want to download tons of video then the 256gb SSD wont cut it but then you can always add a 1tb HDD later.

Bought one of those earlier (almost bought two...)Ignore any old reports of their reliability, as long as it is flashed with the new firmware it's fine.
Not the fastest SSD but for under 50p / GB you can't go wrong!

I know I couldn't believe that when I saw it.
I'm almost tempted to stick one in my macbook and do away with the idea of having a tablet.
Would it add a new life to a 2009 white macbook?
-
• #311
I added a 128Gb one to my 2007 iMac recently and it's like having a new machine.
Having said that, if you just want to surf the net etc, a tablet will still be nicer to use (better form factor etc).

• #312
Well I do love the macbook but for the price of an SSD and the fact I've already got a desktop pc and 2 android phones I really don't see the need for a tablet at the moment. Don't get me wrong they are great bits of kit I love my dads nexus 7. But for me personally I can't see a space for it.
Which is why if I just want to do a quick bit of surfing or watching TV a very portable laptop with SSD so fast boot times makes sense?
-
• #313
Makes sense to me.
I have an iMac which I really dont use very often any more. I had a Macbook Air but got rid of that for an iPad, which gets much more use.
I guess it depends on how much you use it and where. I found that i was charging my MBA once a day but now i can use the iPad for three or four days of surfing on the sofa between charges.

Hi can someone help me choose a new graphics card please?
its for an older computer. Specs:
Intel Core 2 CPU 1.80GHz
RAM 2GB
Hard drive: 300gb
power 300 watt
OS Windows 7 (32 bit)Wanting nothing fancy just something to replace the Geforce 8400gs that has broken. Something equal or better would be ideal, using the current power unit. Don't want to invest in it more than I have to.
Thanks

You can get an XFX Radeon HD6850 for £86 from Scan. You can't do much better than that for the price.
Assuming your older computer has PCI-E 2.0 of course.
-
• #317
Hi yes it does have PCI-E 2.0. Sorry I should have stated my budget is about £40 and I only have space for a low profile card slot. Not expecting much better than budget cards. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks

In that case go for a XFX Radeon HD 6570 also from Scan.
You won't be able to run BF3 at high settings but I guess you don't expect it to.

Hi, I got one more quick question.
Got a graphics card (8400GS but with 1GB this time), but every time i boot into windows7 now, it stalls on this loading/logo screen. I've had this problem with other (8400gs) cards I've tried before and sent them back.
Could this be a problem with my PSU? i've got 300w psu and all the cards including this one, state minimum power is 300w.
- the only reason i've stuck with 8400gs cards is cuz thats what i'm replacing and as you can see i dont know what i'm doing...
anyone know whats going on? i'm just trying to replace the original (now bust) 8400gs card on my parents (old) computer, who are just using it for email, etc.
