Farcebonk is so truly, spectacularly, memorably, unforgivably shit that it beggars belief.

One site to rule them all, one site to find them,
One site to bring them all and in the darkness bind them. -

Someone has set up Facebook using my email address without me knowing. Obviously I cannot log on as I do not have the password. Is this something that FB does automatically to get me to use it or should I be worried about someone pretending to be me? Does anyone know how to report it to them to get the account closed?

Can't you do the "I've forgotten my password" thing to have a new password sent to your email address?
-
• #332
That's the odd thing. They send me the 6 digit code but when I enter it it comes up with an invalid link FB message. This is why I am not sure whether it is a malicious account or simply a software mistake. The problem is is that without being able to log in I cannot delete/check the account and until you are on Facebook they make it very hard to contact them!

Facebook problem? It's not a phishing email is it? Does the from address look legit?
-
• #335
gotta look at that in the context of the industry as well though

If someone were pretending to be you then I dont see why they would use your email address to setup the account. I wouldnt worry if I were you.

Is there a way to filter the main page so I can, for example, prioritise my family's posts over some bunch of wallies that I know what they are doing anyway..
-
• #339
You can create 'lists' - and have a fmaily one or a 'close friends one' http://www.facebook.com/help/friends/lists

Cheers, I'll have a fiddle with that.

Social fixer extension for Chrome is meant to be helpful for this.

getting really fucked off with it - 441 friends, 10 or 15 of whom regularly interact - the rest I've collected mainly through comedy - friends of comedians, comedians friends, 'people who you may know' prompts - I reckon close on 80% of people in my friends list have me on ignore, or only post to select groups within their own friends - so tell me:
what is the fucking point? sack it?

Just binned almost 3/4 of my contacts - at first it seemed like an improvement, now beginning to dislike the people I thought were the 'cool' ones. I want to delete soon, although there are a couple of people who have emigrated that are genuinely cool, tough decisions!
