Been lurking on the site for a little while. I've been thinking about going fixed-gear/single speed for a while.
I've been in London for a few years but only started cycling properly about 5 months ago (minus a brief few months on a completely-useless-for-roads BMX). I love it. Growing up in Wales I practically lived on my bike, it's second nature to me.
I commute every day from Kew to Tower Hill which is about 19km and I really enjoy it, it's an adventure every day. I currently have a hybrid bike - this Giant Seek which does the job very well -
The itch to replace it with a fixed gear is getting really bad though, I don't know if it's the look of them or just the idea of it. My question is, how realistic is it to cycle almost 40km a day on one? I'm pretty fit but I don't want to destroy the bike or my body in a few months.

I have my eye on this - http://2009.feltracing.com/09-catalog-unitedkingdom/track/track/09-tk3.aspx I'd even like to try my hand a track cycling too.
