  • ^^ that's big news surely, separate thread to get the word out and encourage others to try with their local Police force?

  • Wow, might get attacked for saying this but I think 6 points on your license for that offence is a tad excessive. Surely a fine is good enough to stop motorists re-offending. 6 points for a young driver will get him/her banned instantly.

  • I got pulled over going East along the Mall at about 6.15pm. No fine given but he was pretty scary!!

  • Cant believe all the stuff ive gotton away with in london over last few years. had never even reliased there was any enforcement on cyclists in tje capital, i would just go along/ flaunt to the extent of others. next time im in ldn im bound to be caught for something minor now though.

  • St John Street and Clerkenwell Rd junction - cheeky buggers were hiding round corners and grabbed 5 in one go. Lucky I spotted them in time to avoid a fine. Be careful out there people

  • …or just wait in the queue of traffic at the reds. Maybe.

  • and then what's the point of having this thread?

  • or maybe you meant wait in the queue at the reds, take out the smartphone, get connected, check Police spotting thread and then decide what to do?

  • Well, I think this thread is pretty stupid as a RLJers warning resource. If you're intending on slightly pre-empting the change to green (from a standstill) then you'd have had enough time to spot any filth.

Other than that, I wouldn't expect to be taken seriously by the rest of the traffic if I extricate myself from that community by following my own self-absorbed rules.

    Meh.

  • I'm not condoning anything here.

  • A condoner, a few years ago:

  • I considered doing some kind of joke along those lines, but decided it would've been dated, and not particularly funny. Your post has served to confirm my suspicions, if nothing else.

    I take your point.

  • north side of chelsea bridge, on the left if you're coming from south. often a car there pulling over red light jumpers. not got me yet though!

  • City cops on Farringdon Street this evening handing out invites to their next RLJers breakfast party, just south of the lights at the junction with Stonecutter St.
Officer I spoke to strongly implied that they were having a bit of a blitz today. Could have just been trying to scare me straight but in case he wasn't here's a heads up.

  • cheers i shall be jumping red lights more carefully tonight

  • Old St towards Clerkenewell Road right now. Sounds like they have hit paydirt.

  • South side of Blackfriars Bridge on the north bound Blackfriars Road about 8.45 this morning.
Saw a couple of cyclists being spoken to - possibly fined.
Not sure what red they were jumping (if they had RLJ'd at all) but possibly the filter road from Stamford Street eastbound onto the bridge.
TBH that junction is pretty difficult to RLJ without putting yourself at risk even if you know the sequencing of the lights.

  • Corner of London Wall and Bishopsgate 10 minutes ago (lurking in the doorway of Boots opticians), stopped and ticketed two cyclists turning left on red.

  • Blackfriars again

  • Northbound on Farringdon street. again.

I tend to watch them from my desk.

More often than not it's a dick light to jump, depending on which one you get caught at but the 3 city police do look particularly smug.

  • cross roads of Clerkenwell rd and Farrindon Rd. think they were pulling people turning left who had come from old street way

  • Essex Road, opposite Mosquito bikes, pulling over cyclists who RLJ the pedestrian crossing lights

  • I always ask these police if they are checking for drivers using mobiles. When they say no I act all shocked and disbelieving, then point a few out.

I suggest everyone try this. Oh and stop jumping red lights whilst you're doing it.

  • Never!

    no get catched!
