Yeah, Dom and I left the house at about 12, trying to catch everyone. We've met them chilling at the beach at about 6(?). Good ride.

Thanks John, and Ian and everyone for organising this, dragging me up the hills, waiting for me when I fell out of the back of the peloton (over and over again) and generally being stand-up guys.
Rarely has fish and chips and a few pints tasted better.
And whilst I knew that blue Powerade stuff turned your tongue blue, nothing could have prepared me for the surprise I got this morning...

I've tried that before, Colin, and it didn't work because unknown to me the ride had two punctures before it even left London. I waited for quite a while and left; they must have swooped through literally minutes after I gave up waiting. Chances are that they're just delayed somewhere.
After a bit of hanging around including a breakfast stop I eventually met up with the ride just before Sittingbourne. Luckily Chainbreaker was updating the thread so I had a rough idea of the bunch's progress.
A great ride with some stunning scenery, a glorious sunset, beer and pizza (thanks CB), Reculver Towers, slaloming through the holiday makers, their kids and dogs along the seafront, great company, groupsave goodness on the train and much more besides. In fact the only downside to the day was ending up in the same carriage as the world's most annoying kid. "How much was your bike mister, how much were your shoes, how did you get those little pedals on mister, can I try your hat on, etc. ad nauseum..." -

No worries WMV! It was a lovely surprise to find you on route. And your knowledge was invaluable.
Nice photos Middleofnowhere ;-)

Really nice ride, especially the last 17k along the coast road with a weird little cross section thrown in. Big ups to John on organising this and holding it together after so little sleep, and also to everyone else on the ride for making it such an enjoyable day.

Was an excellent 17k, which aparently converts to about 2.5 South African miles.

Nice day in the saddle with great weather. Highlight was definitely the coastal path to Margate. Thanks to everyone for organising.
