  • Hmm Masters ride on the same night at the same time too, so there is an element of danger anyway with men overtaking the women's bunch a number of times, and having been there many times it ain't funny, anyone not too sure of themselves can cause a big stack- up- that applies equally to both genders!

    I think they're suggesting 4th Cat women would be best off in something less daunting, & that's not meant to be rude/unkind in any way.

    My experience has been the women's finish is before the men's & after the finish line the riders go brainless all over the track without a care for the men still racing & having to weave through the women- a recipe for a crash.

    I hope that's provided some clarity.

    The whole issue about safe riding in races/protocol/holding a line/ spacial awareness is a long discussion without an answer, & is a worry factor for £x's worth of bike & time off work with no pay/lost bonus/lost job/broken bones/ops etc
