• Hi All,

I don't really want to put too much detail on here but towards the end of the month a driver who assaulted me is appearing in a magistrates court and being charged with dangerous driving and assault causing actual bodily harm (which he did using his car). The incident was in May and is has taken this long to get him to court so that he can plead guilty or not guilty. If he pleads guilty then he will get sentenced accordingly, if he pleads not guilty the case will go to a crown court and I will need to attend, although only as a witness. I was told by the police that I would not need a lawyer so I have not looked for one. Looking at some of the posts in this thread it seems that people get legal advice straight away. Am I wrong for not getting legal advice? Should I do this now, or wait until he has made his plea leter this month? And if he is guilty (either pleads guilty or gets found guilty at crown court) then how will I go about claiming for damages (2 broken bones, one of which has not healed and will need surgery).

    Thanks in advance.
