u mad bro? this ain't the Dodici thread. this needs something classic to go on the Campag hubs.

H+Son TB14 hard anodised would be the most classic looking. Whatever you do, take this opportunity to upgrade to 23mm rims.

hadn't even crossed my mind tbh!
but yes, you're right.
that is a brake surface right?
-
• #280
They're all machined then anodized after.
This is what I would've suggested too!

any idea who else stocks them? £58 at TF, anywhere else cheaper?
-
• #282
That'll buff right out
I love this film so much.

Was that failure actually due to impact? Make sure your QR skewers are tight!
I'd look at the cost for repair if indeed you can straighten out that rim, but failing that I'd look at a pair of PX Al30's as I've ridden mine for around 500 miles now and they are great, and noticeably faster than my old wheels (which look simlar to yours). Might depend on how much you weigh and how hard you ride I suppose though.

weigh 92-94kg depending...ride hard (ish)

and yeah the QR skewers were tight, but the inside is not 'serrated', so to speak.

Well, I'm about 85kg and ride hard, and have hit some bastard potholes. I've trued out about 1-2mm deviation since I've bought them.
I'd figure out what caused the issue as if it was the QR then it could be a lot worse. I once bent round a rear mech because of this.

If you didn't snap any spokes in the process, or hit anything, then my money would be on a slipping QR.

I think you should completely change the wheelset to have 20mm carbon tubs.

^hahaha, mystery items end up on your doorstep one day...

yeah, well I hope they still post them! could use some new 28c marathon's for the beater... :D

The Mrs had those Campag skewers, and her awesome power would pull the wheel sideways and jam the tyre against the chainstay.
She weighs ~45kg less than you, so I imagine that you could probably do a bit more damage.
Get rid of those skewers would be my advice, or fit some sort of serrated washer.

This is my thought... What classic replacement could I go for? Or just get some PlanetXchrome jobbies?

And he's right. Get Shimano.
Shimano or Campagnolo .. or if you fancy a little something special maybe have a browse of this test and make you're mind up

Is it a cable stop with a reducer? That's usually what is fitted there.
I think they are usually listed as ferrules, and you need to measure it up roughly for the ferrule to take a gear cable with an end cap already fitted.
Ask at a cyclestore, they probably have one and it will save you time to find one on the internet. I needed one for my Concorde and my boss gave one to me. Every LBS has them I think.

this didn't work. even the step is too wide. I recon it needs something around the 3mm diameter?

any suggestions for skewers?
Harry Rowland suggested I get some old-school concealed cam skewers as soon as I got my new wheels for my steel frame, to replace the ones that came with the Novatec hubs. Bought some brand new Campag Veloce - with the serrated edges - for £15/pair, although I can't for the life of me think where from. Harry will know, he recommended it!
H+son sl42?
