Looks like there are plans to do a little Keirin at track league next Wednesday; the first time I did one was at Open Season in June and I learned a lot from just two races. Not least that 48x14 feels a little small behind the derney.

I'd enter, only the BC website won't take my money!

what's the problem, plenty of entrants have successfully entered so far...

Ok, I normally ride 48:15 on the track. Should I go 48:14 or 48:13? I'm worried 13 will make it a nightmare for me to get started and I'll end up knackering myself to catch up before the sprint even begins!

Why do you think you need to change your gearing?

will drop past and say hi

^^ I think it will be too spinny for sitting behind a derny. I already find it a touch spinny...
-

Derny pulls off at 40km/h or something for us amateurs...
Spin to win!

In my limited Keirin experience I'd add an inch or two to your gearing...I tried 97 once (47 x 13) was too high, no jump....92.8 was about right for me...may not be for you!

I think it's more that they're into keirin and ride track bikes.

I'm pretty sure a day license is not required for the novice category....however the novice category is just that, any known ringers will be moved to the Men's category....where they should be.....as this is a rare opportunity for club riders to race against the British Sprint development squad!
Someone who's never done a track orientation.. novice natch...

Re: gear ratio, I've decided to go for 52:15. About 91", so should be a happy medium.

Srsly? Novice? C'mon Erik!
(Wish I would be around. Have a family funeral in U.S. and so won't be around. Good luck riders!) -

I slept on the registration at it filled up : } But I will ride a disc to compensate

^^ Yep, the novice cat is now looking quite intimidating. When I signed up I imagined it as a jolly Sunday jaunt...
Say hi next week. Keirin practice was good.
I'm all black on the felt. James.
