Five bolt holes on the crank, six arms on the chainring. You turn it till the arm and spar line up. As in the top pic.
I'd be into seeing Mavic track hubs on that, on low v section unmachined rims...
I have these in a cupboard actually, yours for one mirrion dorras... -

shit yeah, good point, I figured that equally between the two struts(?) would work, but thats better. I could have sworn that when I was rotating them that its sat a little off centre, but selling the cranks anyway.
nice bikes = tough crowd !!!
yeah, wasnt expecting quite such a flaming...!

Tough love! I'm sure the bike'll be ace. I'd love one of these.

Was in the shop the other day,
£610 and a six month waiting list for track frames

if you do paint it make sure it is exactly the same yellow and blue done by a proper painter

I disagree. Intersecting evenly is my choice of position.

The TA logo on the outer chainring lines up at 12 oclock, when the crank is at 6.

Nice frame - Fox has one too.
Hello. I do indeed have a bike just like this.
How I got it (June 2009):
How it was first built up:
Then evolved to this:
Resprayed (same yellow, darker blue). Done by C&G Finishes in Liverpool who Neil uses. I'd highly recommend going there if you do get it resprayed. The stuff Naomi put on the eBay listing was all true.
Then looked like this:
Since then I have swapped the drops for sensible compact road bars and hoods, I wore that set of wheels out and now have black Goldtecs on Open Pro ceramics with black CX-ray spokes and a different saddle.
Apart from that it's still going strong, I don't know exactly how many miles but I'm pretty sure it's over 15,000. They're great frames, relatively stiff but compliant enough for the road. The longest ride I've done on mine so far was 190 miles and, well, the bike was never the problem, put it that way...
It also now has a LOT of chips and scratches, so unfortunately doesn't look as nice now, but it gets used. Although it looked great when I had it sprayed, I don't know in hindsight if I would have bothered because it has got so scratched, but I never anticipating riding it so much to be fair. When I bought it I thought 40 miles was a long ride.
It looks like yours has a sloping top tube, but I think this is a perspective trick because in the photo the front wheel is nearer the camera?

stem just wrong and if you respray you are seriously fucked in the head.
Gulity. I got some right nutter to build the original wheels too ;)
They were good to me though, I ended up splitting them and selling the hubs as I wore out the front rim.

That respray looks nice with the slightly darker blue. And without c&g all over it...
I'm going to do this one slowly, essentially I had all the parts from a 60s build which didn't fit me, and while I love the parts, they don't necessarily fit the frame admittedly. Money being a large factor, il gradually build it up with period parts, and only get it resprayed when I can afford to get them to do it properly.. AND WITH ORIGINAL COLOURS!
The tt does slope a bit but the perspective has made it look steeper.

at risk of more abuse I need help....
Im thinking campag pista HF hubs laced to either record du monde de l'heure
http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k545/gaz1979/wheels.jpg
or the dark mavic Gel 280...
http://i1250.photobucket.com/albums/hh526/jcgarcia_/ff2951b4.jpg
just cant be sure about either without putting them on, and its killing me.
could anyone 'chop it for me!?

Hi Ernest.
Are those the actuall wheelsets or just examples? If the former I like the first. Might just be the nifty shadows but it looks like it has a higher spoke count. I like a higher spoke count and I think it would suit the other parts. I don't know that the colour of the rim will make or break anything but again I think the first one plays the part better. The black(ish) rims speak to me of modernity and speed. They speak to me of technology looming on the horizon. Your lovely stem and other bits don't speak to me that way.
Well... My two pence... -

I think it will probably be the first ones, just saving the money up, and agree with you on the modernity of black rims, however, the stem may well not be staying on this bike, and Im getting some campag pista cranks for it, so they may not clash as badly when the parts are a little less vintage-y...
cheers though, confirms my own ideas.

From the man Gaz1979... campag pista HF on Mavic gold record de l'heure du monde sprints

good morning!
thanks to meds for satisfying my campagnolo pista needs...
cinelli pista bars are a bit grotty, but they were a tenner, so figured I'd see how much lighter the build would be with alu cockpit rather than the chunky steel one I have on there... kill me to not be using it though...
awaiting pista headset from Ruud,
now I need a 3/32 19t/20t cog, some campag toe straps and a 3/32 chain...

That's a nice looking box of stuff... Almost everything I need for my build! ; )
Looking forward to seeing those wheels on the frame... -
• #48
they look pretty good, its a serious case of beautiful shiny parts on a seriously battered frame, which is always nice... and leaves me open to swapping the frame out for something more shiny/special in the future, so win win.

if you swap the frame I'd really like to buy it off you
I had arranged to meet the seller after you and make an offer but unfortunately you swooped in before I had the chance!
let me know if you are ever considering letting it go
