If it's only being used for a 5 minute run you should be fine with whatever gear you choose.
Ignoring tyre size 42/18 should give you about 63", I'm running 44/19 which is a little lower still, I find it a good balance of acceleration, speed and comfort, it's good for light trails and Monday morning hangovers.
