dont know how far you are from a bike dock but to do nothing about it is just a bit silly. managed to do lots of things to keep yourself busy but havent done the one thing you/ your neighbour should have done fairly promptly (not for the drunked) but to return technially stolen property!
good luck with getting the Visp back. It may be sitting in one of your neighbours gardens, but they are too busy to tell you they took so it didnt get robbed! Then they see you have got a new frame so figure you dont need the visp back and would you adam n eve it they have a free frame... wow that turned out nice!

Bad luck Indra.
Have to ask - what are you doing with a Barclay's bike in your garden?!
I acquired one, a drunk guy left it outside the house and I didn't know what to do, by the time I bothered to search I figured he'd already been charged for it so yeah IDK who he is but it's free to him if he wants it.
same thing happened to me,
I called TFL and they said keep it for a day if you need it and then just dock it whenever possible.
so I did.
sorted.

^cynic in me is thinking they said hang on to it just long enough that they can charge the guy full whack for the missing bike before it gets returned.

My friend had his Harry Quinn roadie stolen near Hackney central tonight, he's not on here so wanted to ask everyone keep an eye out for it. Will post photo tomorrow when I can get on a computer, but description wise:
White frame, black decals. Head tube is blue fade, with rear dropouts red fade.
Red bar tape.
Silver mudguards.
Black saddle.
Pretty sure it has Mavic Open 4 wheels, but dark either way. He's heading to all the usual hotspots to try and find it, but if anyone spots then give me a yell

Just had my Guess seatpost with Specialized Romin saddle stolen from my Leader. It was locked up on one of the Sheffield stands on Neal Street X Shorts Gardens. There was a CCTV camera on the corner but I have no idea who would have the footage, whether it's run by St Thomas shopping centre, the council, the police...
This is a picture of the bike with the post, but different saddle.

It is now returned but yeah kinda lame of them to tell you to keep it till he was charged.

No expert but I do not believe it is stolen property once the item is payed for, it's not in anyone's garden and the bike is now returned, yes I should have returned it but as I said before I didn't know he would be fined and when I did it was too late.
Technically, you have just cost this guy an extra £150 with a non-return fee.
Yes I did technically but not intentionally, just through geting
On with my day to sort it
When I could.^cynic in me is thinking they said hang on to it just long enough that they can charge the guy full whack for the missing bike before it gets returned.
Yes I have along had seconds thoughs because now its returned the
Councils have the money for another bike and the original,
So they effectively got a free bike. -

I never said that.
He had already been charged. They let me keep it for my own convenience, as a sort of thanks for them not having to send a van round.

Councils have the money for another bike and the original,
So they effectively got a free bike. This is an absurd way of thinking about it. I mean, they (along with barclays) pay for all the bikes in the first place, and the cost of running them...they are not getting any free bikes.

Councils have the money for another bike and the original,
So they effectively got a free bike.Late return charge (for more than 24 hours or access period runs out) is £150.
Non-return charge is £300, he'll probably get charged this but once the Boris Bike is returned £150 of it (down the Late usage fee) should be refunded:-
http://www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/barclays-cycle-hire-non-return-damage-policy.pdf
"
If the User returns the Cycle after the Non-Return Charge has been applied, the Member or Casual User may be entitled to a refund of the Non-Return Charge, less the Late Return Charge providing there is no damage to the Cycle when it is returned in line with the Barclays Cycle Hire Refund Policy.
"Of course, if the original user has to claim a refund then he/she may not know that the bike has been returned. TFL may not automatically refund £150 of the £300 when the bike is returned.
Other terms and conditions here: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/termsandconditions/15869.aspx#publications
A quick google gives the actual cost of a Boris Bike at around £900. At that price they're making a loss on each one that is never returned.

Please help me find my missing bike. Someone stole it from southhampton street, opposite The North Face shop last nite, Tuesday 14.08.2012 between 19.45-20.00pm. According to the London M Police 4 other bikes were stolen from the same place on the same night.

Hi guys just a quick note to say my Bianchi C2C was stolen from Endell Street, Holborn, on the 14/8/12. Haven’t seen it on gum tree or eBay at the mo. If you come across it then please get in touch so I can update the police. I guess that I will never see it again :(
(Description of bike, White frame with Bianchi green saddle and bar tape, distinctive white wheels with black / two red spokes, 105 group set. looks like this....https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150411125770462&set=a.10150411120990462.624877.567045461&type=3&theater)

Hearbreaking thread....I dunno if this is any help, if the scum are smart/dumb enough to get online and post an ad, but http://bikeshd.co.uk/
Here's hoping. The cops do this for free sometimes if you can find them. https://www.bikeregister.com/
You can check the register too...
Technically, you have just cost this guy an extra £150 with a non-return fee.
