How cheap?? The best I know in my area are:

Joy, indian on Broadway Market. This place is under-rated and dammed good!
Tre Viet, Vietnamese, Mare Street - Full sit down meal for less than a tenner a head. Unless you have wine.
Tayyabs - Whitechapel road - Brilliant Indian food, again, super cheap and super super good. Booking essential.
LaHore Indian / Kebab - Whitechapel Road - Boom good and super cheap.

Ace thread. Love a cheap nosh up.

Joy I used to be in the place non-stop for a year awesome food. Tayyabs goes without saying great Tandoori lambchops!

Sadly, there's no great Vietnamese in London. Cafe East has gone down in quality since the move and song que is variable. I have been told there's great Banh Mi in blackheath though... confirmations?

Actually Peppers and Spice on Balls Pond road for Jerk Chicken and excellent patties. Easily stuffed full for less than £6 - Take away only

Shanghai beside dalston kingsland(junction?) overground. Looks like bad Chinese from the outside but is absolutely fantastic dimsum for cheap.

I live basically opposite and have never been to this place! Have been tempted loads of times but always got to the tried and tested Mangal (I put it on the list) to avoid dissapointment.

If i hadn't just eaten I'd go over now...

The Kingsland Road Viets are far inferior to their Mare street cousins. Haven't tried the bermondsey ones yet though

But they were the originals, back in the day there was just the Viet Hoa on Kingsland and the Huong Viet on Engelfield Rd

Should there be classes? Below £5 up to £10 etc.

OLD COMPTON ST - Maoz, Delicious falafel in pitta for about £3.70, but with a sort of unlimited all-you-can-eat salad bar which they let you take the piss with. You just eat the filling from your pitta, fill it up again, take it back, repeat until bursting.
PICCADILLY - Yoshino, must be the cheapest sushi in London. Shrink-wrapped in plastic but really good. £2.50 for a vegetarian lunch box

OLD COMPTON ST - Maoz, Delicious falafel in pitta for about £3.70, but with a sort of unlimited all-you-can-eat salad bar which they let you take the piss with. You just eat the filling from your pitta, fill it up again, take it back, repeat until bursting.
PICCADILLY - Yoshino, must be the cheapest sushi in London. Shrink-wrapped in plastic but really good. £2.50 for a vegetarian lunch box
