Buy the actual newspaper. Then you'll find that it's 90% perfectly reasonable, intelligent and thoughtful stuff and only a bit of nonsense in the magazine section or whatever. That 10% of rubbish has always been there, but you wouldn't notice it in the print newspaper, because it would come after 50 pages of mostly well-written current affairs and intelligent political debate. The problem with reading it online is that more people want to read the absurd, controversial stuff (which is why the Daily Mail website is so popular), and they react by giving it more focus. They don't do this with the print newspaper because it's more formal, the audience is completely different, and they have more pride in it.
