Decal help (altering an Illustrator file)

Depends on several things

• picture quality
  
• live trace options (tresholds, line thickness, radius, line length, etc)
  It either draws lines or turns them into filled 2D shapes.
  Mostly, you have to make some adjustments manually to get things right.
  
  
  

So, I've just hand drawn a dinner plate sized version of the roundel using a tracing of a blown up (cornershop photocopier) image from a catalogue reprint I had and loads of photos of my frame for reference.
I used my daughter's Crayola felt tip which gave just the right fucked-up-ness of line, really pretty happy with it.

Question; If this is 'live traced' into illustrator how much of the line quality will I get? Does the program snap lines straight or is it possible -though laborious- to follow each change in line thickness and angle?
