Wanted: Steel track frame c60cm, £150-200

  • I'm starting to get a bit bored of riding around town on my Raleigh conversion. It looks nice, but it's a bit heavy, a little too small, and now that I've had to take the rack off, it doesn't even serve any great purpose as a town bike any more.

    I was hoping I'd find some kind of bargain East German Diamant frame over here, but the only one going for a reasonable price got snapped up just before I got there. On Ebay, they go for stupid prices considering they're mainly gaspipe jobs.

    I'd like some decent steel, with a top tube at least 58cm long. Preferably with a drilled front fork.

    Rather something old and classy but tired than something OTP. And I'd like to pay as little as possible. And no road frames or trick frames.

    What have you got for me?

    Thanks

  • Case in point, another Diamant frame I was having a look at, and winning with two minutes to go, just ended up shooting up €110 and went for €358.

    I want a new bike!

  • Reynolds 525 (very similar to the famous 531, I cannot tell the difference).
    Nice colours.
    Seat tube (c-t): 59,5cm
    Top tube ( c-c): 56,5cm
    Spacing: 100/130mm ( you can have the possibilty of gears or fixed, if prefer this kind of frame you can always chose,as people like us are never happy with the bike :)

    Frame, fork & campagnolo BB-> 100£
    With Campagnolo Athena headset->130£

    Let me know what you think

  • Please please post this again in the next 'wanted: track frame' thread...

  • ^ that's a much nicer way of saying what I was about to say.

  • And no road frames...

    Sees advert from someone getting fed up with having a road conversion as a daily bike - offers them a new road frame to convert

  • Any more for any more?

  • I've got a nice Bob Jackson road frame, 58x64,120mm spacing and no bottle cage braze ons, and nice clearances...

    You can barely tell the difference right?

  • Panasonic frame or GTFO

  • 64cm though, that's a big fella. Do you have a picture?

  • I was only offering it in jest, but here is a photo as it was built anyway... It's not that big, you're taller than me right? it's 64 CTT...

  • I'm 6ft2 so I think that would be too big, it's nice though

  • I'm a short 6 ft 2 and it fit me, but yeah it is a bit of a gate.

  • The things that I possibly had in the pipeline seem to be stuck there, so anything else around?

    Don't be put off by the 'in Berlin' bit, that ends next week, then I'm doing a mini tour of the UK again so postage won't be necessary.
