L'Eroica rules are stringent - nothing post 1983. AFAIK, canti's may be banned altogether, though I believe this is to eliminate high-end 80's CX bikes (e.g. alu. Alan) which may give unfair advantage!!! I certainly don't want to be drawing attention to my non-period stopping power with such obviously modern brakes!!
Frame Pedigree: I'm near certain it's '50's. Originally I thought Flying Scot, but that's been eliminated. I then thought Carlton, but they never had P-prefixed serials. I wondered about Viking, or Stallard (since it has Stallard Dropouts) but I'm pretty sure it's a Dawes. Serial# format (P4211) is consistent with this one, Dawes used Stallard dropouts.
Spearpoint seatstay caps look similar to a Dawes on Classic Rendezvous - sadly the link at main Dawes page is broken so there's just a thumbnail - but the resemblance is relatively strong. - I'll try and confirm this - It's always nice to know what you're dealing with!
