Either fibre, petroleum jelly, or both.
The jelly is quite good as they can't digest it and it just helps everything slide on through and is pretty quick acting. You can get it in meaty or fishy flavours as well as plain, and just mix it in to their normal food.
And then anti-hairball food, moisture and fibre to help stop it happening again.
Poor James. Hope he feels better soon.
