Gorgeous! ^^
My girl kitty has discovered climbing:
The boy is clingy. Wants to be on me all the time and keeps trying to suckle my arms, neck, whatever.
I love how different their characters are already and look forward to seeing what kind of cats they grow to be.
I must admit, they are totally distracting. They seem pretty content with life too:

Whilst looking for cat biscuit online, I came across this comment on zooplus...
Ever since my cat had his castration I started feeding him Almo Nature, I loves it and I actually tried once, it was NOT OILY and I couldn't taste any salt which is VERY IMPORTANT for cats especially for the male cats. VERY NICE NATURAL CAT FOOD I WOULD SAY!
What the actual fuck?!?

What the actual fuck?!?
Fer realz. Almo Nature just needs garlic, tomato and salt to be an excellent pasta sauce.
A bit seriously, it should be on that chart up there ^ as it is quality stuff.

Perhaps if all pet owners tried their animals' food, they'd be
pickyeven pickier about what they give them.On second thoughts....POC.

If something is too gross to eat yourself, then why should your cat eat it?
Vets always go on about not feeding cats old scraps, raw meat etc because it could make the cat ill. That you need to put as much care into feeding them as yourself.
By that reckoning, ready made cat food should be edible for humans.

Exactly. I only said POC because it would involve me having to eat meat which isn't something I have done for nearly 20 years.

What's the reasoning behind not feeding cats fresh raw meat? Never come across that one before...
-
• #3587
Yeh, everything I read says that raw meat is better than cooked meat.
-
• #3588
Red meat or white meat? Does it matter?

worms. thats the main reason as I understand it, for cooking

The vet told me to give my cat a good chunk (mouse sized) piece of raw chicken a week, sometimes two. It's hard chewing work and helps clean their teeth so helps prevent gum disease. He had gingivitis at the time and it cleared up really quickly.
Considering how expensive my last cats teeth ended up being I'm going to stick to the raw chicken thing, although slightly less frequently than suggested - he is very partial to mice and the odd bird here and there. -

Is there anything I can feed James to help him get rid of a hairball?
He's coughing, and he's been sick twice now, but still no hairball.
I'm hoping that it is a hairball btw, I don't want him to just be ill.

Either fibre, petroleum jelly, or both.
The jelly is quite good as they can't digest it and it just helps everything slide on through and is pretty quick acting. You can get it in meaty or fishy flavours as well as plain, and just mix it in to their normal food.
And then anti-hairball food, moisture and fibre to help stop it happening again.Poor James. Hope he feels better soon.

petroleum jelly
This must be qualified veterinary advice, right? -

Hairball paste. Defurr UM is good. Takes time though.

Only an issue with pork AFAIK.
-
• #3596
I thought worms was beef?
-
• #3597
Don't think so cos you can eat beef raw or lightly cooked (steak tartare, rare etc.) Don't know of any similar pork dishes...

The most common food born worms, Trichinella, are a pig problem (also bears, humans, rats and walrus. But not dogs and cats).
The food supply is pretty well regulated.
Raw meat for cats is probably not a problem at all.
You should be worming cats pretty regularly in any case, to treat toxocara roundworm.

So.. Raw chicken breast.. Just any old chicken breast I would buy to a supermarket? (not frozen of course)

Why chicken breast? It's a cat.
Chicken mince or turkey mince.
She does indeed! :) Tres beautiful.
