This is not quite happening in real-time as I bought the frame just before I went away on my holidays - listed on ebay under the snappy title of "racing bike frame 23 inch size and parts spares or repair build up deore xt stx"
Description read "fairly light frame and forks - deore xt derailier stx crank stx cantilever brakes pd-m525 clip in pedals - ask any questions - collection only"
It went for a princely £11.50 and it's the right size - splendid
Top tube cable clips show it's age, and the super thin seat stays it's potential quality. Other than hunting for frame numbers and trying to i.d. it, I've done nothing with the frame yet, but it's definately old.
The canti bosses are a later addition to allow for 700c wheels
The plan is to build an old-school British clubman bike from the days where you used the same bike for club runs, commuting and touring and maybe even racing. Components will span the decades from 50's when the frame was (probably) built to the official L'eroica cutoff (mid '80's) and will all be chosen with a no-nonsense ethic in mind - good solid kit for riders who complain about the price of tea when the club stops at a cafe.
