  • 1 - bikehub, follows quieter roads, cycle paths etc, i think it knows the national cycle routes but I've only used it a couple of times, it was excellent on both occasions.
    2 - Waze, likes busy fast roads, great in the car but less so on the bike, though it is now programmable to avoid some routes
    3 - strava is kinda fun as above
    4 - endomondo - good to track your route so you can return to your start point easily, handy on mtb in forest if you're lost. ahem...
