For Sale: BMC SL01 Road Racer 2009 - XL

  • UPDATE! I have today come across a crack around a weld on the seat tube, took it into my LBS for a second opinion and it's definitely in the metal, not just the paint. As it's only recently occurred to me it may still be under its 3 year warranty, the sale's on hold for the time being. Thanks to everyone who pointed this out!

    Hi all,

Regrettably announcing the sale of my BMC SL01 Road Racer (XL), as sumo before me (http://www.lfgss.com/thread73481.html) and Pifko before him (http://www.lfgss.com/thread60317.html)

Specs (mainly copied from the original ad)
    2009 BMC SL01 Road Racer - XL
Triple-Butted Aluminium & Carbon construction. A really stiff frameset, yet not a jarring ride
    BMC/Easton Carbon fork 1 1/8" steerer (29cm length)
    BMC carbon 'Streampost'
    Internal cable routing
    Easton EC70 clincher wheelset (24F radial, 28R radial NDS / 2-cross DS)
    Schwalbe Ultremo tyres
    Record Shifters 10sp
    Chorus Carbon Ultratorque Chainset 53/39 172.5mm 10sp
    Centaur Rear Mech 10sp
    Veloce Braze-on Front Mech 10sp
    Centaur 12-25 cassette 10sp
    Centaur chain 10sp
    Veloce Skeleton Brake Calipers
    Easton EC90 100mm 10deg 31.8mm stem
FSA Omega 42mm Compact Handlebars (White Fizzi!k tape with gel padding)
    Specialized Toupe saddle

Just not getting enough use to justify the space / someone who'll love it more not having it.

Only one change/defect (shown below) since it was bought, whereby the alan key attachment on the left hand side of the seatpost came off and was lost on the road, although the RHS is fine, and the seatpost can still ctly well.

Any questions, or anything you think I've forgotten to say, just let me know.
    Thanks! Joe x

  • I've a spare stream post from my crashed SLX01 if you want to buy it. PM for more.

  • Oh man I miss this bike.

  • Sir, should you consider “asset stripping” this bike, please give me first offer on the frame. I would take the whole lot, but the welds have just gone on the seat tube of my condor trainer and the rest of the group set is fine. In the meantime, good luck with the sale.

  • I'd be interested in the frame, if it were to come to that.

It's a cracking bike that and cracking price.

  • Oi Tenderloin, you're mowing on my patch ;-)

It is a good price/bike. Too good to split if you want an out of the box, ready to ride bike.

  • Yep, i'd definitely rather have it go all together for the time being!

  • don't split it. It's a great frame on amazing wheels with an amazing groupset.

  • Update with sucky news, but cheaper corresponding price!

  • It's a 2009, they have a three year frame warranty- if Sumo or Pifko are the original owner then I reckon there is a solution to this problem.

  • Thats the bottom of a support strut. What's not unstructural about that ?, the crack will only get bigger. It needs welding if possible or failing that try using the warranty claim

  • Loved this bike. Good to see its still in pretty much the same setup as when I sold it.

  • Love mine I have the exact frame thinking of selling the frame though to get carbon.

  • why don't you take it to the shop get a new frame under warranty and sell new frame ?

  • ^ and others. Thanks, I made a sizeable oversight whilst wallowing in self-pity! Pifko's going to see if he can dig out the receipt and we'll take it from there.

  • That makes an enormous amount of sense.

  • It was definitely bought within 3 years and I'm sure I have filed the receipt away at home somewhere. Stuck at work at the mo. Will be interesting to see what BMC's Warrantly service is like.

  • Is this exact bike still in the range?

  • The Manchester/Paris trip a couple of weeks ago super comfortable bike would love to try the carbon version.

  • free upgrade ?

  • Is this exact bike still in the range?

I think the 'Road Racer' model was upgraded to full carbon, among other things, so it could work out well for Joe :)
