Olympics 2012 track cycling

The more I think about it, aggregate time is a stupid way to settle the omnium. It massively favours someone who is good at the pursuit, because that is where the longest time gaps are. It also disfavours anyone good at the bunch events.

Why have a bias like that? Also, countback would encourage positive rather negative riding, as you get more benefit from high placings.

What if two riders place 1st and 2nd in 3 events each?

That's why they use times.
