I rode 65mi to brighton on a hi-ten steel pos track bike just fine, so comfort is a relative thing, I don't have enough room for any more bikes other than a commuter and this bike (brompton excluded) and a carbon bike is not what I'm after.
the criteria for it being suitable for longer rides is that it's 'better' than my cro-mo steamroller with 35c tyres and cheap heavy components. I'm not an avid roadie I just want to be able to do occasional rides to lose a bit more weight.
the fact that I also want to give track riding a go means I want something that does both reasonably well and I think I'd rather have something nice and stiff I can really throw around when I ride it than super light and a bit flexy especially as I'm still pushing the 15st mark after my crash.
