As I managed to cobble together my steamroller from assorted parts for commuting duties after my crash and no longer need to spend any thing on it, I've decided I want to put the insurance money towards a build for something a bit nicer.
My goal is to have a bike that I can do mid distance fixed rides on (60-100mi, some hills) without it weighing a metric fuck-ton but that I can also take the brake off, change the bars to drops and take on the track as well.
I've taken a liking to the look 464 frameset so I think while it's probably not the most comfortable frame to ride long distances on it's not going to be the most torturous either if I put some decent contact points on it.
I have a rough idea of budget (1.7-2.5k) but it all kind of hinges on the final settlement amount as to whether I finish it with merely nice parts or I go for really niiiiiiiice parts instead.
this will be the most expensive bike I own for the forseeable future and it'll be kept for 'proper' riding, so i'd like something a bit special that's worth looking after.
I'm starting the thread now as I'd like to get things sorted in my mind so when the money is ready I can get everything ordered and I don't get indecisive and end up blowing the budget by changing my mind mid-build.
will be chasing opinions as I go on things like wheelsets, steering, seating, pedals just to make sure I don't end up with a really expensive anti-porn bike.
