  • Banksy has been found! A girl rang at 3.30am to say she'd seen her in the rock garden behind the house and sumo and I went out and called her and she came running! No worse for wear, she's back in her favourite cardboard box now, as if nothing has happened.

    Woo!

  • I know a few people who use an Eglu:

Chickens dont live in these things, they sleep in them.

    Cats are such dicks.

  • Given that foxes will gnaw/rip open chicken wire, or dig under it, I'm challenging this statement.

I've endeavoured to protect the chickens from the local foxes on my Grandmothers farm, and they are relentless orange bastards.

My sister has kept chickens for 4 years and hasn't lost one to a fox.

  • We have lost 20 ducks in the past few weeks to the foxes.

To solve this by brother went out and shot the fox and his family

  • Great to hear the cat is back!

Does she keep them in her living room?

  • My cat is fast asleep and snoring very loudly.

Get some proper chicken wire and dig it in properly.

    Yes, you shouldn't go sofa.

  • Electra:

  • Yes, you shouldn't go sofa.
Only if you couch it in those terms.

  • Moriarty:

  • ^ Great picture!

  • Thanks, he's photogenic:

  • Moriarty is an awesome cat name.

  • Some amazing looking creatures in this thread. :)

  • ^ And some great names. I considered Electra. Moriarty is also excellent.

Glad to hear Banksy's been found, Scoot.

  • So we went to a cat sanctuary yesterday to see what kittens there were, perhaps with a view to thinking about getting one, but mainly to cheer ourselves up by looking at cute kittens. Big mistake! A bit like going shopping when hungry.

So now we will be welcoming these TWO cuties into our furry family:

We did go to have a look at the top kitten as we'd seen her pic on the internet. When we got there the staff explained that she had a sister and they were really close so they wanted to home them together, though they would split if necessary. However, after we saw them eat together, play together and then curl up on top of each other to go to sleep we couldn't split them up so reserved both. So that will be 4 cats and a dog. We really are becoming the mad cat ladies...

  • Anyone know a good cat forum?? I want some advice on Molly's feline cystitis..

In fact, anyone have advice about food. She has Science diet food to combat her cystitis. She loves the dry food but detests the wet food. Do you think it's OK to feed her a small amount of normal wet cat food together with her prescription dry food?

  • We just lost a cat to chronic cystitis/possible bladder cancer so I have a little bit of experience. From the research I've done it seems that dry food diets are the problem with female cats as they don't get enough moisture from their food which results in changes to the bladder environment and consequent cystitis. Sounds like yours will be quite high protein though so less of a problem than cheaper biscuits. Unless the diet is the special one to get rid of bladder stones, I wouldn't worry about feeding a different sort of wet food as wet protein will most definitely help get moisture in. It's what they would eat if left to their own devices. We fed our cat almost exclusively fresh meat towards the end as it was the only thing she'd eat. The vet seemed to think it was helping to break down bladder crystals but unfortunately her condition was irreversible by this point so didn't have the benefits it might have done if she'd lived longer. Supplementing with cystaid (glucosamine) also helps as it thickens the mucosal layer of the bladder and stops irritation and inflammation of the bladder. You can get this cheaply online.

So try and get as much good quality wet food (which can include raw/cooked meats) as possible and supplement with cystaid. Bach flower remedy in drinking water can also help reduce stress which can exacerbate symptoms.

    Hope that helps.
