Hello everyone. Seems like a nice place here, good source of knowledge and a new found form of time-wasting for me, namely 'looking at pictures of bikes'. Live in Berlin, but may move to London or Manchester in the near future.

Hello all,
Sam here, long time reader, first time poster.
I've been riding in London for years and made the switch to fixed maybe 18 months ago and have never looked back. I know a couple of people on here but shan't embarrass them but pretty sure I have met some others.
I currently have 3 (or 2.5) bikes to my name. My daily bike is a 80's Gitane. I suppose its a hack bike and doesn't look the best but its a bike I'm happy to leave locked up around town. I also ride a 1950's Gillott road bike but unfortunately had someone decide to pull out in front of me thus buggering my front wheel. Luckily the frame seems okay.
I also own another 1950's Gillott - a track frame. The seat tube on that is broken though and am in the process of trying to find someone to fix it or someone who wants to buy it in its current state.
Next on my list is another Gillott or a Bianchi track frame for me to do up and really invest time in making it look good. I like to do things on the cheap so perhaps it might take a while but some of the prices in the shops for parts are eyewatering - I'm much happier finding what I need at a cycle jumble.. Or trawling the classifieds here.
Other than that I'm 25, Londoner born and bred and enjoy being in the city with everything it has to offer. Nice to meet you all

Afternoon all,
I'm a first time poster, been reading the forum for a couple of weeks now. Have gathered a lot of useful information from lfgss as of late!
Recently got back into riding after a number of years of partying hard. Since the influx in tourists to the capital for the Olympics I decided against using public transport, haven’t looked back since and absolutely love it! Wahey!

Hi all i'm new to the forum and i have just purchased my first fixed gear cycle which is a Specialized Langster from Evans. I'm from London and have just had my hybrid nicked but i was eventually going to get a fixie sooner or later. Wanted to make a topic asking for recommendations on a flat/riser bar for my new bike but i have to make 3 posts first! :)

Don't make a new topic. Read the rules in the nursery. Use te search in the top right and then if you still need more info you can ask in the Any Questions Answered thread.
Welcome. Sorry to hear about your bike getting stolen.

Hello,
First time poster. Been working on a fixed gear conversion the past few weeks and was looking for somewhere I could document my progress and get useful tips and help.
I recently completed the coast to coast with a mate on what can only be called a sub optimal bicycle setup. Despite this I really enjoyed the experience and as I currently live in Cambridge and have lots of inspiration from all the great bikes I'm seeing everyday on my way to work, decided to start my own project.

Hi All,
Need to make three post replies before I can post an Ad myself.
I am a Cytech Qualified mechanic recently introduced to Fixed Gear Cycling. I now have two fixed gear cycles and am looking to sell one of them that I recently built.I live in the North but will be coming down to London tomorrow with a lovely resprayed flip-flop cycle fully built up from an 80's Pinarello Frame with Campag components.
More detail when I create the Ad
BE WELL
:-)
Ha! Not a chance Rob...
Most people are easy to chat to. Just dont go being all internet warrior like with this lot. Its like blood in a shark pit. Overall we are a friendly but feisty lot.
My suggestion is, find out where the nearest drinks are to you (theres a tab called beers) - meet the guys in person, and theyre less likely to be dicks online. Most are awesome in person and the drinks rock.
