  • Just purchased a langster to use as a beater/pub bike. Here is how it currently stands, no plans to do anything with it other than run it into the ground.

    Does it barspin?

yes he only bought it for the spin to the bar.

  • Best looking pub bike I've ever seen, without a doubt.

  • What bars/grips are they?

Bars are RaceFace MTB risers, nothing special but nice and comfy. Grips are Specialized locking grips.

    Does it barspin?

Not that I've had the inclination to try but no it doesn't, I'm not one for tricks.

    Thanks!

  • Funniest thread in any forum, ever, joined up on the strength of it.

  • Mine:

  • Langster ahem Moscow here, a bit too big for me, but a sweet ride.
Currently playing second fiddle to my Youngs SS.

  • I thought that I should have posted pictures in this post as well, my brand new toy, 61 frame.
I've ridden fixed 48~15 for a while but now I' riding 48~18 freewheel

  • bars, angle, not correct.

  • To be fair, Specialized was being a bit of an inept cunt by changing the excellent Langster not just into a track-geo one, but track drop with road brake hood.

  • Thought it might be worth posting in here as my wanted ad didn't get me anywhere - I'm after a 2010/2011 56cm steel frameset (or a full bike potentially).

If anyone wants to get rid then get in touch.

Not really, they basically redesigned the langster around the Allez frame which is very much a road bike. If anything its an improvement in the road geometry and makes this single speed torpedo even better.

Not really, Specialized have basically redesigned the frame around the Allez which is very much a road geometry. This make the Langster even more suited to rocketing around town than before.

  • Mate picked up a used Langster this week that came with just a freewheel fitted to one side of the rear wheel and an exposed freewheel thread on the other side.

There didn't appear to be a track thread under the freewheel but I couldn't get it off to make sure.

I didn't think it would be likely that a Langster would come with a free/free flip flop but maybe it did?? Think the bike is polished ali if that helps at all?

  • Should be flipflop. Mine is

  • ^ Not free/free though? I've had a polished 2007 alu and polished 2010 steel, both came with a free/fixed hub. I reckon someone has either changed the rear wheel or more likely, just stuck the freewheel on the fixed side. Shouldn't matter too much, as the lock ring thread is smaller in diameter.

  • Cool, he only brought the wheel round so not too sure what year the bike is but I'm hopeful for him that there's a track thread under there for him.

It's an unbranded hub and I think it was something like an Alex rim. Black hub, spokes and rim. Rim had a machined braking surface. Sound familiar at all?

    That's what mine are like.

  • Had an OTP wheel on a Gary Fisher Triton, bizarrely the freewheel was put on the fixed side, noticed this when I took it off. Might be worth checking.

  • I reckon that's what's been done. Couldn't really tell from looking at the wheel though and my remover and the one in the shop I work in wouldn't fit the strange Shimano freewheel that was fitted.

    Cheers.

    They didn't.

The old Langster (2011) have identical geometry to the Allez, until the 2012 Langster came along with it's track geo.

Actually the old Langster* have an almost identical geo to the Allez.

The 2012 is now a track geo.

Do you meant to says it look more like the Allez due to it's flaccid top tube?

*unless you're talking about the first ever Langster of which the geo was a track one before they used the Allez geo).

  • ^^

  • When its not in the crap red it actually looks alright :/
