John Krenicki, one of the most senior executives at the worlds biggest industrial company General Electric, is to be paid $89,000 ($57,300) a month for doing nothing.
Mr Krenicki, 50, is leaving GE after the US company announced the energy division he controls is being broken into three new businesses.
His monthly allowance runs to 2022 and is worth more than $10.5m in total.
GE has awarded the package to Mr Krenicki in return for him signing a three-year non-competition clause.
He will also receive a supplementary pension allowance when he reaches 60 that could double the size of his $18m pension pot, as well as a cash bonus of at least $2.5m for his work at GE this year, and the vesting of share options and long-term performance awards worth $14m.
Industry analysts believe the package is worth more than $28m in total.
