• This morning I stayed back and waited for an ambulance that was waiting with sirens blaring until the cars ahead had space to move out of its way. This seemed sensible to me. It seems that all other cyclists however saw the confusion as the perfect opportunity to shuffle forwards in their bid to get to the front of the queue (where, incidentally, they would either have to RLJ or block the pedestrian crossing and probably some of the road ahead), and of course in doing so they held up the ambulance even more. I called out a couple of them when I passed them afterwards. (Calling people fucking idiots is what we mean by "calling out" right?)

I also saw a guy RLJ in front of police car that was speeding through a junction with its sirens going and nearly get hit. I stay the fuck away from emergency vehicles not only because they need to get where they're going without being delayed but because they'd probably kill me if they hit me. I don't understand why so many cyclists ignore them and don't change their road behaviour at all and it's one of the few things that still bothers me when I'm riding.
