Locking a bike in Stratford

Posted on
  • Afternoon all,

Does anyone know if there is any safe cycle parking in or around Stratford Westfield now? I’ve heard they’ve restricted it due to the Olympics. Any info would be hugely appreciated.

I've tried ringing Westfield, the local council etc but they know sweet fa.

  • I wasn't aware that there was safe cycle parking anywhere inside the M25.

  • Plenty of bike racks in front of the station but i'd not call them safe.
I've been locking my bike there few times over the last month.
2 d locks and a beater is the way to go.

  • westfield no longer allows bikes any where on their premises during the olympics ... ditto for any of the olympic site
you cannot walk your bike in you can't even take it to the International Terminal / Station if you want to get a train with bike somewhere
the area round stratford tube now resembles a bike park however, the concorse of straford tube has dedicated bike parking and loads of railings to attach to, quite solid railings i've seen quite a few fixie skidders round there of late
but again only lock what you can afford / you can accept losing
    nowhere is safe

  • Cycle parking is shown on the linked pdf

3 spots shown on the attached map and one appears to be towards West Ham tube. Hope it helps

  • People seemed to be parking their bikes outside the Burger King on the other side of the lights, oppo the bus station today.

  • isn't all of Stratford off limits to bikes?

  • NO
Please read the numerous posts above

  • I'd only lock a bike up in Stratford that I was happy to lose.

Be prepared to get the tube home.

  • ^ well that goes for locking anything anywhere

stratford is uber posh these days dammit ... you probably haven't been to E15 for a few years
you should see all the porsches and bentleys ... the oyster and champagne bars and all the michellin starred resteraunts and the Harrods EAST store

  • Does that mean we should lock up to a Porsche or Bentley and leave a Champers and Oyster thankyou on the bonnet? Gift wrapped of course...... we is posh innit!

  • Thanks Arvy, I printed that map out to take with but ended up just locking my bike opposite Boyger King as beanpie had suggested.

That Champagne Bar is a complete joke. I would seriously avoid.

You end up getting drunk and then spend all your money in Reiss or the COS store, which has been conveniently placed opposite the Champs bar.
