  • This is not strictly 'Games Lanes', but might be of interest to folk on this thread..

Olympics are great from my point of view, so long as you're not actually ATTENDING anything.
Massive frustration yesterday at the ExCeL. Nice ride there with Mrs BGA to see the weight lifting, then stopped by security and my bag rifled by well-meaning but brainless security gimp. So here's a list of what he let me in with and what I had to take out and throw away (or in my case, hide in a bush 'til the end of the session).

    Spare inner - in
    Puncture repair kit - in
8 inch aluminium pump - in
    x3 lights - in
    Wheel spanner - BUSH
    10 mm spanner - BUSH
    Allen keys - BUSH.

Utter hash. Apparently 'no tools' is the rule. So I looked up the rules..... http://www.london2012.com/mm/Document/Documents/General/01/25/44/06/Prohibitedandrestricteditemslists_Neutral.pdf

No mention of 'no tools' rule. If I knew this in advance I'd have been more assertive at the time. Not that it would have done me any good.

BUT - did get to see tiny North Korean lifting x3 his body weight, world record and great non-ironic military salute during his anthem. And endless opportunity for 'snatch' gags. So on balance, a good evening.
