Just a few quick points for now since I'm short of time this evening.
I notice it no longer seems to be possible to edit posts after submitting, and there are two errors in my first post: It should, of course, be L'Eroica with a capital, but much more important, I've missed the most uselful gear ratio of the whole set - 67.9.
But apart from that:
The Chain Rings
If you look closely at Diot's bike in the PBP picture I think you will see that he is using a TA chain ring in the way suggested, although he has chosen much more ambitious sizes that I had in mind. I believe his set up was known as 'Criterium', the ones often still seen on old blokes bikes with the much smaller inner were called Tourist.
I should have a picture of the finished machine tomorrow.
