The system in its heyday.
The leading rider here is Maurice Diot who when on to beat his breakaway companion Muller by a length after 800 miles. Their time was 39 hours something, which has put the PBP record on the shelf for ever.
This picture is from 'Miroir Sprint' and my translation of the caption is:'They couldn't leave each other'.
