I suppose the appropriate police notification was sent for this event presuming it was on the roads.. ?

Did'nt attend but it's a route I used to use commuting from
Trafford Park, there's a disused road from near Pomona station
(The roads fenced off but a gate is open at the side for bikes, peds)

I'll take the eerie silence to my question as 'No, we recognise that the events not legal and that by participating we're putting the organisers knackers on the line. AND it will go a long way to damaging the hard work that proper cycling organisations are doing to sort out the legislation to secure racing on the open roads'

People are responsible for their own actions. If they fuck it up then on their head be it. What I would ask though is how would people react if all the guys racing on bikes got taken out by a bunch of folks who decided to do the same thing in cars? I'm not saying I agree with Rothers but I don't think people can completely dismiss what he's saying in quite the way they are.

I feel inclined to be generous towards rothers, just because I'm strangely delighted by his presence on this site (I'm yet to see him out on his fixie-bike tho (or, indeed, at all for that matter); maybe once the hill-climb season comes around..). But as far as a bunch of fixie-twiddlers skidding round a car park is concerned, I can't imagine anyone not directly participating in the event taking any much notice of it at all, and so can't see how it would possibly jeopardise anything to do with organising 'proper' races on the roads. And the question of police notification/whether the council have been informed/how many BC ranking points are on offer etc. etc. is hilarious enough to not bother asking - as I'm sure he was well aware!
Still I imagine his posting in the thread stemmed from an interest in actually taking part in the race, which I would very much like to encourage!

so we need road closure on an abandoned road with no traffic, ie closed course?
i was posting the flyer for the "organiser"
the course itself doesnt have a turnaround point so there's not really much point in running a crit
the disused road DOES however lend itself for a two up drag sprint style race...
more details soon...

Definately, when I raced track sprint I used to train standing starts on that closed road, occassionally racing chavs on moto x bikes
You want gatorskins at least though!
