Great shot of you on BBC breakfast this morning Colin!

Great shot of me doing what, exactly?

I'm not sure, there was something about the police looking for a man to assist them with their enquiries.

It was a really good day. Some good racing, well done Rich for not having to walk home.

Cheers fella, I know what side my bread's buttered. When the missus says win I do as I'm told, I didn't fancy walking ten miles home in that heat.
I must say though, that was the slowest 20k ever run. 40 laps at club run pace followed by a 2 lap dash, just how I like it.

From what I saw, the Friends of the velodrome did an excellent organisational job, hats off to them.
However, in the interest of a balanced opinion, I do think the program was rather odd for a regional championships. No 200m time trial for sprint seeding, 4-up 500m sprints, yet a seperate 20k scratch race in addition to the (presumably) championship scratch race?
Seemed more like track league or open meet than a champs. -

Was gutted to miss this. Returned from a week in the Alps on Saturday, And was in major need of a bit of rest after so much climbing, so went to the pub to watch the tour and have a beer instead.
Saw you lot on the BBC news this morining though. It looked like a really well run event!

Oh, and Jim looked like some random bum had found a BC skinsuit on the side of the road, and stumbled into track centre!

The 20k was the championship event with the scratch being the support. I just thought I should make that bit clear, not showing off or anything, oh no.
I agree it was a well organised day of racing, thanks to everyone involved in getting it organised at short notice. With a few tweaks to the program (specifically the sprint structure) I think next year's event could be even better. Was pretty strange having loads of news crews down there filming, and I even got interviewed by the evening substandard after my win. They haven't actually printed anything but that could just be down to the fact that I'm a bumbling inarticulate idiot. In fact, I don't think the bloke was even taking any notes when I was blabbering away.
My only gripe for the day was that everyone downed tools mid event to watch some bloke called Biggins riding round Paris in a yellow jumper. That added a chunk of time on to proceedings and made me late for my dinner. How inconsiderate.

Phew, luckily I was doing nothing, again. I don't think they can arrest me for that, or can they?

What a great day of racing both at HH and along the Champs Elysees. A big thank you to the Friends of Herne Hill Velodrome as organisers, the commissaires and all those that helped make this such a memorable day.
