  • But I like the fact that with Flickr you can favourite things you like and comment. Can you do that with tumblr? Also I'm just thinking about changing because I received a message about a limit to 200 uploads? Which confuses me..
    @ Kboy Thanks.

  • On tumblr you got all the hearts and likes and comments etc, as long as you have a template that carries them, which most does.

Flickr has gone downhill since Yahoo bought it, perfect example of how a big organisation kills something great

  • Couple of snaps from our ride to Paris. 8p disposable camera.

  • very nice

  • Matt at Ag Photographic has some clearance items. Just bagged two packs of Xtol.

  • Rather annoying, bought some xtol from him about three days ago.

  • Noice

  • Dead birds ftw.
As long as they're really dead.

  • XP2 is very quickly becoming my favourite black and white film. Shot yesterday, and then got really nice results, just taking it to snappy snaps and getting my negs back in 20 minutes.

It was just really nice being able to get my shots back so quickly, and I really prefer the results I got with the black and white over the colour I shot.

I already had fuji superia 1600 in the camera, so it wasn't idea for shooting in the middle of a sunny day, but I'm not a fan of any of the colour film I've shot recently, can anyone recommend a nice safe standard colour film.

  • I'm using some fuji superia 400 right now

  • I felt like I got pinky/ purpley skin tones, I'm guess probably because I wasn't using it under the right conditions, but I'm really naive of white balance with film

I'm too used to hitting a button on my digital camera

  • fuji reala 100 and kodak ektar 100, fuji proH (the portrait one?) are the more neutral colour balanced films, very good in general outdoor conditions, though you might want to keep a quality UV filter on there to reduce hazing/colour shift (purple/greens from the coatings within the lens).

Slide is supposed to be better for that, but the £££ and the time to develop is eyewatering, so I save it for £££ paid for MF work only now. In 120 its around £1 a shot with dev & postage (but not scanning!) considered.

  • +portra 160 for colour neg.

Also, weirdly enough the bird wasn't dead. I was going to put it out of its misery but bottled it when a group of tourists strolled by.

  • ^ Could've been instructive for them.
    Local colour, etc.

  • (...) can anyone recommend a nice safe standard colour film.

    Try the Ektar.
It's available for about €4.50 over here (even some drugstores sell it now).

Portra is good as well, but more expensive (around €7.00 here), and more vivid.

  • How much will a nice 2nd hand film scanner set me back?

  • fuji reala and kodak portra 160 NC my favourites for colour (if you can still find it), haven't tried the new portra hear it's nice though.
for the cheaper option I usually use fuji superia 200.

    edit: 7dayshop have for £3 http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_1&products_id=5741

  • My two local film processing places have closed. I have a roll of pushed b&w and c-41 from the Olympics OC. Any current recommendations for processing near to St Pancras, or via post?

  • is superia 200 the same as c200?

  • No, superia 200 is much better.

  • I decided to make a tumblr account. So here it is! - http://seanalexanderfisher.tumblr.com/

  • Ive just got hold of an old camera I found in our house (a Zenit TTL) and id really like to get to grips with using it. Im a complete novice, so does anyone have a good guide for a newbie starting out in terms of all these things like exposure, f number etc?
