This is partly what I'm talking about, the benefit of carbon is obvious, but the braking performance of carbon is something I err on the side of caution if I'm going to do says, an 800km audax.
Like Object said, comparing TdF is like apple and orange, especially when they have their own team vehicles, huge choices of wheels, brake pads, etc.
Of which got me thinking; do the team often change wheels for every stages race or are they're the same? (obvious exception is mountain stage, TTing, etc. where the difference is noticable).
