Massive fights. This is from when MikeC said Pisti didn't love Stevie G enough:

No that is a myth. Someone who shall remain anonymous (DJ) caused some sort of tag apocalypse on said thread and this quickly propagated, looking like it stemmed from there. But it didn't

Not entirely true. A number of people were involved in posting many tags (object, tisnowverywas, cliveo, oliver schick, myself and ramaye).
I am not sure if it was clive or oliver who first did the mass tag dump, i ran with it, along with object who did the numerical tag dump and tiswas who created the bumtags.

Don't drag me into this, I deleted every single one of mine It isn't my fault you copied them.

Here's a plan - lets not go into it again.
-
• #8158
Tags should be brought back, but everyone can only see their own tags, but keep them searchable.
If you can't find a thread, how are you going to put a tag on it for you to find?

Need I remind you that you have a restraining order preventing you from going anywhere near the Football thread, mentioning the Football thread or even thinking about the Football thread while enjoying a little squalid "me" time on a Wednesday afternoon while sitting lazily on your sofa in Kew.

Well yeah, there's a question. The same with Rugby vs Football... why do two ball sports result in such different reactions from fans?
Who knows, I'm not going to try and answer such things... but the football thread + tags resulted in constant shite, flouncing and politics, whereas polo + tags hasn't resulted in any of the above.
But surely that's because the Polo forum consists principally of flouncing and politics.
It is interesting how many people span both thread and forum. Balls and goals (well, not goals in Bill's case).

Hold on, when did I do tag abuse? I might have pointed people in the direction of how to commit said offence but my role is strictly limited to one akin of the person who posts bomb making instructions on the Internet. I take no responsibility for people actually doing what I teach them.

Fight Club, probably. That's on the default list.

There are plenty but I should not mention them here for fear that you will quote my post and by doing so, breach the terms of your injunction.

Tags would be searchable by everyone.
I don't really care, I've never searched for anything by tag, just that's what vb said they were originally for.
Oh and I'd like them back.

Hi hi,
Small one probably, but when I visited the pro-Evans thread just now, I got a "page contains insecure content" warning. Re-loaded it again, same thing. Someone might want a look.

Not to get shirty, but the constant merging of every different football thread into The Football thread is getting a bit fucking tiresome. So some don't like football, fair enough, but if people want to create different threads for different tournaments, then who are they harming.
Currently there is a 2012 Pro-Cycling thread, there was a Tour de France 2012 thread, there is an Olympic Road Race thread, I'm sure in due course there will be a Vuelta 2012 thread, if there isn't already. But no one feels the need to merge them into one almighty Pro Cycling thread.
The European Championships, World Cup, and Olympic Games football are different tournaments/events that to a certain extent being national rather than club based, draw different people/fans to them, that might not participate in the football thread as it meanders along its seasonal way. And as such are deserving of their own thread so comments can be left and discussion entered into..
If you don't like football fine, but lets not get dislike confused with order and an ongoing ghettoisation of football into one thread, because you know it's like all the fucking same. Which we all know it isn't... Just as the classics are different from stage races, grand tours, world championships and olympics.
Unmerging is difficult and messy to do, so a bit of fucking forethought before the merging commences would be appreciated.
many thanks

What just happened to the football thread, some no nothing weapon melt has just merged olympic fucking soccer bullshit into it.
Football thread = club football, banter, rivalry and Liverpool
Olympic football = not proper international football, kids you've never heard of and a game you cannot get exited aboutWHY DO YOU DO THIS?

good old trollball
I did not abuse tags. We were given a limited number and I quickly. Realised that if I took possession of them I would be able to control what was said in tags and prevent others from abusing them. This was a public service. Others became upset because they could not use tags to say unpleasant things about me and the team that I support.
We have also lost Margaret Thatcher's Penis which is a huge loss to this forum.
