  • While it sounds like games were good spirited there was a lot of heavy/reckless contact, which is fine as long as it get's called and the offender is penalised. But it seems that this was often lacking.

    I think allowing forearms will simply encourage more physicality at the expense of skill. Turning games into 'putting people down' rather than 'playing the ball'. Watching Mr Do's games of NAHBPC there are a few really ugly moments which I don't want to see over here (check clobber vs the means at 9:40).

    The key is good reffing. You can have as many rules as you like but if people aren't willing or skilled enough to make tough calls they're useless. I think we should encourage less experienced refs to 'buddy up' with more experienced ones and sit with them for a few games. This way we can reduce disparity and have a higher general standard.
