I think the paintjob is pretty awesome. Rattlecan paintjob will never look this nice.

It's pink! I'll get beaten up round here if I go out on a pink bike!!!

Only if you think like that. That paintjob is flair.

I've had 4 pink frames, they're faster than red ones. Fact.

Pink and mother of peal surely?
I reckon it looks awesome.

Ok you've persuaded me, the pink (and mother of pearl) stays, as long as you promise not to point and laugh at me!
Out of interest, does anyone know who was making Carrera bikes for Halfords in the 90s? I've heard Dawes made them for a while, not sure how accurate that is though. -

Quick update, the frame decals were in a poor state so they are now removed and everything cleaned up. The bottom bracket and dropout adjusters were pretty hard to get out due to corrosion but got that sorted too now so thought I'd stick some wheels on and see what it looks like.

Nice, like the clean pink/white in combination with all black.

Looks great, keeping everything black?

looks sweet. Glad you decided to keep the pink. What size is it?

Thanks guys, yes I think everything will be black although I'll try it out with cowhorn bars and see how that goes, the pink/white combo looks better than I thought it would!
Minty: It's a 52cm, 21" or so...... -

I forgot to post up a pic now the bike is on the road! Here it is, likely to fit drop bars again eventually but for now this is it!

I picked up this Carrera with the intention of converting it to fixed, the paintwork is a bit ropey so planning on a rattlecan respray, yeah I know but it's hardly a classic! It's a Reynolds 501 frame, I'm thinking from the early 90s, it's pretty heavy but looks solid enough, time will tell!
