it depends on the maps you have available but my OSM maps show all marked road types plus public footpaths, trails and bridleways. I'm not sure about the same level of detail on the continent in general but, when using it to drive across Italy to a tiny campsite in the middle of the Umbrian mountains (Sibili national park) the Garmin (on OSM maps) knew every turn, tunnel and toll over the 300k journey.
